I might have been a bit too subtle, but as others have mentioned, even if Tkachuk beat McDavid for the Art Ross with 800 points it doesn't matter until he produces when the stakes are highest: playoff time. He wasn't great against Dallas, then absolutely wilted in the second round.
Panthers took a gamble by paying him almost $10 million. However, if he does become a true playoff performer it may be a bargain.
