This is effectively a SLAPP lawsuit designed to shut people up and play to the base. As far as I can tell, CBC is literally playing back Danielle Smith's own words and not paraphrasing for her. There is nothing libelous, slanderous, or defamatory here.

But now she can say "it's in the hands of the courts", deflect any further questions, and tell her Smithkovites she's standing up to the CBC. Problem is, they're already voting for her so it doesn't help her in the slightest.

What I'd like to see is the amount of money Alberta taxpayers have had to spend on Jason and Danielle's frivolous court battles, and related scandals-de-jour.
