Either way, knowing mutual interest is pretty different from knowing contract terms. I would have expected him providing a list was saying to Treliving "I won't sign with anyone but these teams" not "I'll sign with any of these teams the Flames choose to trade me to, regardless of the differences between their offers".
He would have needed to agree to any offer before signing, and I imagine would have still wanted to compare offers from each team before signing any of them.

Looks like the arb was filed July 18. Pretty sure UFA day was July 12 (or 13th?).
They could get a pretty good picture of contract terms over that week...at least close enough to know that a deal could be made
