Better late than never. We're still getting a top end prospect in this draft no matter what spot in the 1st round. The top 3 in this draft is a lot better than most, but we were never going to get in one of those spots in the first place.
There are top prospects in every draft, especially if you're drafting top 5/top 10.
I will be on the rebuild train hard core if one or two of the following happen:
A) Bedard falls to either Anaheim or San Jose. That kind of player accelerates one's rebuild significantly.
B) Calgary fails to make any noise in the playoffs (if they even make it).
Point A has a high chance of happening when combining the odds of both Californian teams in the Bedard sweepstakes, point B has an even higher likelihood of happening.
The Pacific is already hard enough with the caliber of top end players in it.
- LA has Kopitar/Danault as two-way monsters
- Seattle has Beniers/Wright
- Edmonton with McDavid/Draisaitl
- Vancouver coming around with EP40 paving the way as a top center in the NHL
- Vegas with Eichel
Leaving Anaheim, San Jose, and us.
