Lucic Says 'More Accountability' Might Have Helped Flames As Season Slips Away

Milan Lucic said a lot on Thursday. But you get the feeling the Calgary Flames winger left even more unspoken.

Like a guy who wanted to point fingers but would prefer to call an anonymous tip line.

Barring that miracle finish that fewer and fewer believe isn’t possible, the season is all but over. A 3-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights saw the Flames fall six points behind the tiebreaker-holding Winnipeg Jets and get leapfrogged by the Nashville Predators. Nine games are left on the season for the Calgary Flames - a team that has one two-game winning ‘streak’ and just a pair of wins at home over that same span.

Sharks enter matchup with the Flames on losing streak

LAST 10 GAMES: Flames: 5-3-2, averaging 3.5 goals, 5.9 assists, 3.3 penalties and 7.7 penalty minutes while giving up 3.1 goals per game.

Sharks: 1-6-3, averaging 2.3 goals, 4.1 assists, 4.7 penalties and 10.8 penalty minutes while giving up 4.8 goals per game.

Beyond the Boxscore: Calgary Flames lose another one to skilled Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights brought their game to Calgary and promptly showed the Calgary Flames what a playoff bound team looks like. Firing on all cylinders at all points of the game it was an impressive showing from the visitors. It was not like the Flames rolled over and accepted defeat, they fought back like they always do and made things close. Too bad the game isn’t horseshoes.

Hungry Like The Wolf

Dustin Wolf can not accomplish much more in the AHL in only his second professional season.

As the Calgary Wranglers head to the finish line of the regular season and prepare for the playoffs, with their next game on Friday at home against the San Diego Gulls, Wolf continues to shine in goal waiting for an NHL opportunity to come.

All while knowing he must bide his time, especially if the Flames do not have either Jacob Markstrom or Dan Vladar go down due to injury and the big club remains in the fight for a Stanley Cup playoff berth.

I will be away next week and unable to post GDT's until Tuesday April 4th's Hawk's game
