Treliving for example, didn't stop all other managerial work while hammering out Huberdeau's contract.
You're just making things up to fit your narrative.

If Zito had no intention of signing him, why ask to get through the free agency week first? Also, you have no idea whether or not they spoke again before the trade. As for Treliving, he was HIGHLY motivated to get the deal done, and it still took 10 days, even though the frantic pace of early July was well behind them.
