Game 1, Scornfire brought the Scandinavian defense for the first four moves, but stepped out of theory on move 5 in moving the pawn to F6, which really undermines the defense of the king, as that diagonal becomes pretty hard to defend. After that move, I was looking to create a bit of a classic puzzle pattern with:
Qh5+ - G6
Nxg6 - hxg6
Qxh8
Scornfire prevented this by moving the king after the check, but that meant the chase was on, and it ended up stuck in the middle of the board.
Game 2's opening involved some pretty advanced pawns early on and a lack of king-side development. I got a bit cocky on move 8, as I saw Bxb2 as a tactic, to be followed by Bc3 to pin the queen to his king, but saw that the knight on e4 was covering just in time to abort mission. I still picked up the one pawn, but at the cost of freeing up his rook on the b-file, which was probably not a great idea.
I prepared my castle, but made the decision to attack before completing the last move, which almost came back to bite me when Scornfire sacrificed a knight to create a strong attack with his rook (the one I let out earlier) and queen, but just didn't have enough pieces involved to make it work.
