They’re essentially useless at a riding level (evidenced by the fact that the UCP left a riding unoccupied because it might’ve been harder to win) but sometimes if they’re especially competent or incompetent it can make a difference.

The vast majority of the time it’s just a party vote, so when someone says they’re not voting for a party because the lack of doorknocking or whatever, it’s either a convenient excuse or a misunderstanding of what these people actually accomplish on a riding-level.
