Well, a parking lot is specifically designed to park vehicles, so you can logically assume that the space is meant for both pedestrians and vehicles. Common sense dictates that cars allow space for people, and people for cars.
If you're walking to deliberately uphold traffic then you're just being a Richard. And if you don't have the patience to allow a person to safely, but reasonably, traverse the lot on foot you are also being a Richard.
Right side, few feet from parked cars. Everyone wins.
