The coach being tough and a bit old school doesn't seem like a valid explanation for a lack of pride and desire to win every other night, especially when you're given a golden opportunity to redeem yourself and all the pundits that wrote you off
It's mystifying

This is a different perspective than mine. I don't see guys who aren't prideful. I don't see guys giving it 60%. I see players struggling mightily, namely Markstrom and Huberdeau, but I don't think either guy is just coasting. Markstrom clearly had confidence issues earlier in the season (but has been much better in recent weeks) and Huberdeau looks like a guy trying to do too much and overcommitting. I also see a lineup struggling to find any consistent chemistry. I see 4th line veterans who are working their asses off to stay in the league (even if it's clear to everyone they just don't have it anymore, sorry Looch).
If there's one thing I've never really questioned this year it's their give-a-#### level. I believe they all care and they all want to win. Things just aren't falling into place for one reason or another. It's not their year, clearly, but in my opinion it's not for lack of effort.
Have they been blown out once this year? I know they've had no-show games but I can't remember a game they just gave up and lost 7-1 or something. They're in almost every game, they just can't get over the hump to win. That doesn't seem like a team that doesn't care to me.
