Whatever that "The Burn" bull#### that happened in Discovery actually happens now in the 25th century.
Regular warp travel by dilithium is no-longer possible but it is discovered that the Pah-Wraiths hail from another dimensional aspect of the wormhole called "The Warp" full of psychic energies and malevolent beings.
