Too many small guys get too easily bodied when the whistles get put away.
I am more of the mind to move up in any first round to try to hit on guys with size and skill. Finding gems is nice and all but for every kucherov there are more Dustin Boyds.
Very few late round gems become impact players that win serious hardware.
Best chance to get size and skill is first round. Roberston is a nice find but he hasn’t won anything. He’s still a winger. Who’s a Center that was taken beyond the second ? Bergeron is the only second rounder I can think of that has won anything. Brayden point plays behind stamkos (first overall). Scouts for teams are good and scouts for amateurs are good. High picks where people hit are where contenders are made.
Flames need to change their mo when the average haul for a team is 1 roster player per draft. Make that one player more of a higher value by moving more assets to secure the better ones with more size potential.

I don’t think that gets the deal done
I literally don’t think the Flames have assets to trade up to the top 3
Those deals just don’t happen
