Jared Bednar and Jon Cooper both were unproven at the NHL level but won the Calder Cup before becoming coaches of the Avs and Lightning respectively.
I'd have no issue with Mitch Love being the next head coach of the Calgary Flames, especially if they make noise in the AHL playoffs again this year.
