I don't fully get vodka soda mixes. It just tastes like the soda... and there's more interesting pre-mix versions out there IMO...
But if you can get a citrus or sugary type gin with almost no botanical or juniper flavor, I thought it tasted pretty good with a pineapple or citrus based soda water and added a hint of a nice twist.
Strathmore gin which is infused with seaberry (from Edmonton) or Citadelle gin which is more citrus (from France) were the ones that stuck out as good combos for me.
For these gins, a friend said 1 part gin, 1 part vodka 2 parts soda + ice worked great. I took one look at the amount consumed and wondered how she didn't fall down after the second cup. 1 part gin, 1 part vodka and like 4-6 parts soda would make way more sense IMO for her level of intoxication... but you mix it how you think you'd want it if you want to give it a try.
