Yeah, I read Hrdina's piece too. Vinny Prospal and Pavel Brendl's as well. Interesting stuff. I never knew Hrdina simply decided to pack it in the way he did in 1992, just saying in essence "I've got three Cups in four years; this is as good as it'll get, I've accomplished all I set out to accomplish, I don't want to completely kill my body anymore, so... I'm done." What a champ.

Brendl's piece was fascinating insights into a player who, from the outside looking in, is still years later a bit delusional about himself. He was sourpussed about not being played in all situations, not being given 20 minutes of ice time a night. Like... no #### dude, you were a sieve on defence. I remember when he played for the Hitmen he'd park himself at the red line, waiting for outlet passes. One of the most blatant cherry-pickers I have ever witnessed. By his own admission at least he acknowledges that he was essentially "uncoachable", and never understood why coaches wouldn't just "let him play his game".
