It's not just that though. It's the pure contempt that everyone has for everyone else. They only care about them getting on, using all of the overhead compartment space they want, and having no issue holding everyone else up when it's time to get off.
I was on a flight to the UK last summer and a lady was there with a full leg cast. She wanted a wheelchair (which makes perfect sense). When they told her that she would need to wait until everyone else got off the plane so the they could get the chair to her and such, she changed her mind and decided to slowly and gingerly make her way off holding up dozens of people behind her. Maybe I'm alone here, but I could never do that.
