If he had have continued backing into the zone with possession until the puck fully entered the zone, then passed, its a good goal.
I could be wrong, but i believe the analysts trying to say it had to do with him not touching the puck briefly while having control are mistaken.

Ya, weird how they missed that. He had full possession but didn't actually carry the puck across the line. As soon as he passed it without gaining the zone, he put himself offside. Clear
