I agree with this....to some extent. Your comment reminded me of Stuart Scott's speech at the ESPY's years ago. It's a pretty emotional speech, especially considering he passed away from his battle with cancer shortly after. He talked about the notion of 'losing' his battle with cancer. It could be cancer or ALS or whatever, but you're not losing the battle if you fight like crazy. You beat it. Here's a short transcript of his speech:
