If someone had the best statistical year of their career in 2021-22 and then had the worst statistical year of their career in 2022-23 are we going with "they will always be closer to the worst than the best"?

I'm just saying, yes the trade value may be there now, and they may lose some trade value over time, but is a bounce back season not possible? Many posts note that if they had even average goaltending, or were close to average shooting percentage the Flames would have won a few more games and be in the show.
Not a silly question at all, I think a bounce back from many of the players is likely and possible next season, but is that bounce back large enough to make a deep run in the playoffs and compete for a cup? Cause if not, what are we doing. If we run into Colorado or Edmonton in the PO with this roster I think we get wrecked, and I hate to say that. Too slow, no game-breakers, and we still run the risk of Markstrom forgetting how to goalie when the pressure ramps up.

Build through the draft for once, even if it's on the fly while we try to make some round 1 playoff money. This is a super deep team full of complimentary players with hardly any elite talent for them to compliment.
