It basically comes down to vote efficiency. You get 99% of the vote in say Cardston, and it's one seat. The polls are just plain deceptive in that regard.

Barring a situation where say the Liberals are completely in the tank, the polls aren't overly useful in predicting the results of an election. Not to mention a lot of pollers change their tune and end up voting strategically when it comes time to fill the ballot.
