And I don’t think that’s happened even once. None of his signings that didn’t work out had anything to do with an age curve. And his last 3 UFA signings are not that bad. The worst is Kadri and he’s on his normal point pace. Just not fitting with his linemate well. Coleman is fine, Tanev is more than fine, Markstrom has had a terrible year (after a great one) which has nothing to do with his age.
I am sure Coleman will be great in 2025 and Kadri in 2027.

Markstrom was awful before his injury in his first year too, 28th best save percentage in the league.

Neal was burnt on age, Brouwer burnt on age. Those are two examples.

Outside of the Boston Bruins, I cannot think of a team in the NHL that has more top 9 forwards over the age of 30 than the Flames (Flames are tied with the Bruins). It may eventually work but it is an unorthodox strategy.
