Treliving and company have bungled this deadline so badly they should all be walked out the door. There is still time to make some deals and try to grab some draft capital and kick start a retooling. I would suggest that Lewis, Lucic, Toffoli, Backlund, Tanev, and possibly Hanifin be used to grab as many picks in the upcoming draft as possible and build some depth that can step in over the next few years. Go into net year with the following lineup with the understanding they are not going to immediately contend, but you're building toward something. This lineup could surprise.
Huberdeau-Lindholm-Coronato
Dube-Kadri-Mangipane
Pelletier-Zary-Coleman
Ruzicka-Zahorna-Duehr
Hanifin-Andersson
Weegar-Kylington
Gilbert-Zadorov
Stone
Markstrom
Vlader
Farm players that you hope can step in and challenge for positions include Jones, Schwindt, Poirier, Solovyov, Kuznetsov, and Wolf. The future is in the draft picks generated from the trades of the assets identified. I don't think things are as bleak as they possibly look and feel right now. The right moves just have to be made and the team can't be afriad to make them.
