I’m not one of those that sees running it back with the same group as a winning strategy. Too many players in contract years at that point.
If the season is a failure, sure it’s an easy decision to sell expiring contracts.
But assuming you’re not expecting to fail, you have an issue as you can’t re-sign all of those guys and you’re going to be left in a predicament.
Seems like we’re at a good point to decide who you actually want to build around. One of the challenges the Flames currently face is that their longest term contracts remaining were signed before any of those players played a single game for the franchise. Rasmus the one exception. Are those actually the players to build around? If so, start building the pieces around them.
