I think a drop in finishing coupled with a drop in HD generation (for) is an issue for sure for this team.
But not last night for generation tallies ... that was a monster game for creating chances. Ullmark was great.
Brind'amour has the Canes playing a very similar style to the Flames. The two teams are 1st/2nd in shot splits, similar in CF, similar in expected goal splits.
The Canes have a higher HD generation rate for (+4%), but also a higher HD rate against (+4%).
Because of all the shots the Canes have a middling team shooting percentage in all situations (21st), and pretty average goaltending (14th) but are a winning team.
The Flames with very similar numbers are 31st in shooting percentage and 29th in save percentage.
Just an odd odd season. Seems almost impossible to be that poor in finishing and stopping pucks compared to a direct peer.
