I think Markstrom could well rebound and become decent. BUT I also think he’s a hefty contract with term. And he’s getting older, so age will catch up. Goalies are just too inconsistent, outside of one or two examples, to spend big bucks on. Colorado didn’t mind losing Grubauer and then Keumper, and they are picking up fine under Georgiev.
I like Markstrom and I think while he’s not been great he’s been hung out to dry so often it’s compounded the problem. But a deal isn’t just about his current or even future play. It’s about his contract.
That said, if you lose Vladar and bring up Wolf, you are sending a reasonable amount on the tandem.
