The difference between Lindholm and Kadri is that one can create offense by himself and the other's offensive productuction is a byproduct of his winger's talents. Lindholm is the better player defensively but how much money and term do you really want to pay a two way center that's needs elite wingers to produce offense? He's probably going to get overpaid when you consider he's somewhat similar to Monahan in that he's not generating a lot of offense himself. The Huberdeau, Kadri, Markstrom, Coleman, Weegar contracts aren't going to age well and I'm not sure it makes sense to add another long term deal to another late 20's forward as these long term deals are starting to stack up like it did with the Sharks and Kings of the past.
This organization has been extremely poor when it comes to making difficult decisions on top players over the decades and the moment they start making them more proactively, the better the organization will be. Look at Nashville for example. Little doubt they will end up being a better team faster than the Flames as they are making the difficult decisions today and not waiting for their hands to be forced or setting themselves up for salary cap hell in the coming years.
