But its not completely out to lunch honestly.
Lindholm would be the PERFECT 2C for Colorado, and his cap hit is amazing + the flames could retain some as well.
Look at what people are going for now, the prices are crazy. To think Lindholm couldnt command an offer like that is crazy. He'd absolutely be worth it for the Avs, the only issue I had with it is that Makar is hurt an Byram has kind of stepped into his role so I'm not sure how open they would be to it but with a healthy Makar I think the Avs take that all day.

If the Flames could get that deal for Lindholm they should do it immediately that would be a massive win. I believe I suggested something similar in the summer after Johnny left and Tkachuk had requested a deal but not yet been moved and got shredded for it and that was after Lindholm was freshly off a 40 goal point per game season. That is the type of deal that retools the franchise almost immediately.
I do think if they did dangle Lindholm and retained 50% they would need as close to a can’t miss young player as they can get over an abundance of futures. I do feel like Lindholm has felt underpaid for the last 5 years and won’t be handing out discounts on the next one and with the Flames having 3 huge contracts for 30+ players they should avoid moving Lindholm.
Backlund I would love to keep as a Flame for his career but if he wants to move on then you let it happen by moving him.
