It could have been a management screwup, a lot of signs point in that direction, but it just as easily could have been a veritable cornucopia of other reasons.
It would be interesting to know if this off-season management was dealt a crappy hand or whether that damage was self-inflicted.
Either way though, that doesnt reflect on the on-ice performance of this group.
On the one hand, I can understand management's claim that this is an under-performing group that 'could' be better than their record suggests, however at the end of the day this is a results-based business and the people in it are judged based on their results.
One can claim that the standings dont accurately reflect the caliber of this team, however, unfortunately, that reflection, however inaccurate it may be, is the only one that counts.

Tkachuk in a interview with sports net said the management always structured his deal offers that led him to early free agency he didn't ask for it. He from day one wanted better term deals but Treliving came to him with what we see him get.
So it's not that all signs point to miss management. Tkachuk himself has said he was ready ro go l9nger but Calgary kept up with short term deals so he took it.
Treliving should go to Boston Pizza with his dad.
