The Flames played a good game, but:
1. Goaltending was not good
2. 57 shots means nothing when it's almost all easy perimeter shots.
Tonight's loss is all on Sutter though. The quote function won't work, but fully agreed with just_tim's comment about the man-to-man defense system. It's impossible to play 100% mistake free hockey against the best teams in the league...they move the puck too well, they play at a fast pace, and the skill threshold of every day players has never been higher. Defensive assignments will be blown from time to time.
One or two defensive breakdowns shouldn't make or break a game like it did tonight. Sutter needs to adjust his system to fit a league where scoring is back to being on par with 80s and early-90s...the current system that requires perfect execution is not working.
