I think the projected pt total needed is 96 pts atm, with teams like Nashville and Calgary still actively around the bubble and teams like Seattle and Edmonton going through struggle and staying just ahead I can see Kyuss reasoning as to why a 15-5-2 record is needed. That’s 32 points which would put Calgary at 98, I feel like the 8 spot could sneak in at 93 to 95 points this year which would bring the needed record to 13-7-2 which seems doable. That said I don’t think this team gets past a Vegas or a Colorado in the first round this year and I really think they need to be considering ‘bigger picture’ considering the 7 and 8 year contracts they just handed out. This team won’t be able to afford to keep all of the high end expiring ufas at end of 2024 in Hanifin, Lindholm, Toffoli, Tanev and Zadorov so they should be looking at turning at least a couple of those guys into futures. It makes too much sense for it to happen though based on how Calgary has operated at the trade deadline with their current position.
