Can people stop tying his performance to his wife's pregnancy? Many of us successfully managed to juggle jobs getting paid vastly less and probably with more strenuous mental requirements than playing hockey professionally while our partners (maybe even some of us) were pregnant, likely without significant gaps of productivity. Many thousands of people across Canada accomplish this yearly.
Could it have affected him? Sure, it could have. But that doesn't mean something else couldn't effect him more next season. Personally, I think the lack of sleep that comes with having a newborn is far more detrimental. IMO by tying his current #### tier performance to this, you are essentially admitting that he has virtually no hope of turning it around next season given the changes at home he can be expected to face.
