Pretty impressed with this Avalanche team last night. Get Landeskog, Makar, and a couple trade deadline adds in the lineup and they'll be breezing to the Stanley Cup in 14 games again.

As for Calgary...just sad. The team clearly lacks the top end horses to have any real chance against the leagues top teams. It's like they operate under the pre-lockout CBA where they're spending all their money on 28 year old and older guys and have too many pricey mid roster guys who are not able to match top talent. Until they get to a place where the best and highest paid players are in the 23 to 30 range.. it's going to continue being a mediocre team at best. This offseason they got older, slower, and more expensive. .which is the triad of death for a team. Need 3 seasons to reset everything and likely a good 8 to completely flush it out. Look at the Avs...they went sour around 2008 and it took a decade for them to re-establish what looks to be a sustainable elite team.
