1. My premise is this organization has no interest in re-building for the future. Do you disagree? What evidence is there that they are changing from a win now approach to a re-build?
2. If you were re-building then you should explore moving these guys at the deadline. But since they aren't re-building they won't.
3. If they are going to move players, its going to be to change the make-up of the team, but in an effort to still win now. Those type of player for player deals happen in the summer.
4. Even if they were moving for futures, I don't know that you get more at the deadline. The deadline has a restricted market based on who views themselves a competitor, who has the draft/prospect capital and the willingness to move them, and who has the cap space to take on the players. All of this means far fewer teams would be available as a trading partner for a great player like Lindholm. Several teams have already made their big move. Others are likely targeting in on others (NYR for Kane, NJ for Meier), so the target team list shrinks further.
