Building a hockey team is not a binary thing; contender or rebuild, as hard as that may be for some to wrap their heads around.
The Flames have several assets of value and it’s not like they will come back next year with the exact lineup. I don’t have a crystal ball, and neither do you, so I’m not going to guess what that team will look like. But to suggest next year is a foregone outcome based on where they are now is a bit lazy, but go ahead and wallow in your negativity.
