Got home from the game late last night and instead of being pumped with adrenaline, I was/am depressed about the team’s performance and the future of the franchise.

No doubt after the second goal last night you could visibly see the team sag, but there’s way more to it than that.

We were close enough to watch the bench on commercial breaks and there is/was no energy!

My opinion is what energy there is was negative. No smiles, no encouragement from player to player, nothing.

So many invisible players and forgettable shifts… wow!

I had to remind myself which team played on Friday night and then travelled back for Saturday’s game… the Avs did, not Calgary.

Which team was without their best defenseman and arguably one of the top 3 defenseman in the league?

I was most disappointed for my kids as they were looking forward to the game and experience all season. That performance last night was overall very weak and definitely gave us all nothing to cheer for or be excited about.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment is thinking about the fortitude and direction of this group.

We would have been somewhat encouraged by a better effort.

Markstrom has to go, sit, or be buried in the minors as we all know, he’s lost it.

Sutter should call it a career and move on at the end of this season. He is not part of the solution.

Tre should not be renewed as this franchise needs a better vision and plan for the future.

I appreciate Backs and Pelts efforts, but that’s about the only positives that I saw last night.

Sorry for the Debbie downer, but there doesn’t seem to be anything to look forward to in the near term and some scary contracts long term.

One last note: watching numerous Flames games in Denver, even game 3 in the playoffs a few years ago where Calgary got pummeled, there were some game breakers that kept the Avs on their toes so to speak.

With this team, there are no dangerous or difference makers out there.

How much of this is the players and how much is the system? Debatable, but I think they are both factors in the on-ice performance and that needs to change in order to improve.
