I don't understand why they don't give Wolf a chance. Treliving evidently finally came to terms with the fact he doesn't have the ability to build a sustainable contender and decided to push all-in and go for it in a desperate attempt to win, largely mortgaging the future in both draft capital and cap commitment in doing so. Why is the team then screwing around worrying about development? Goaltending has been an unabated disaster this season (nobody could have predicted a career league-average goaltender would decline in his mid-30s) so why not try one of the best prospects in the World in the position and see what you have? Quit ####ing around and go for the Bag.
As wild as it sounds, even if Wolf completely drowns in the NHL he wouldn't be worse than what the team is experiencing this season so give it a shot! Worry about multi-millionaires' hurt feelings later. Kid was a wonderful draft pick and has toyed with shooters in both the WHL and AHL since. Get him into the big squad with a bit of runway and see what happens. Let's go.
