Wolf is 22. He’s as accomplished as any goalie can be prior to making the leap.
The knock on him is he’s 6 ft tall. That’s it. This ignores the plethora of elite goalies who were not large men.
Curtis Joseph, Chris Osgood, Mike Richter, Tim Thomas, - in fact, of the top-20 winningest goalies of all time, only Luongo and Rinne are 6 ft 3 or over. Everyone else is between 5 ft 10 and 6 ft 2.
If Wolf is an elite goalie, he’s got the mental fortitude to step into the crease of the team that allows the second fewest shots in the league, regardless of whether or not the fans think the coach is a meanie head.
If this situation were to break him, he’s not an elite goalie, and at least you have an answer.
