Again, I’m sure they’re aware of the value of draft picks. Generally speaking, yes, having more picks is better than not. But are there guys they actually want to pick, or are they doing nothing more than rolling the dice and placing faith in blind hope? There is a difference.
Also, a ‘much’ better shot? If you went to 7-11 tonight and bought three more scratch and win tickets would you regally feel like you had a ‘much’ better shot at winning something/anything?

In hockey terms, yes 3 more picks in the draft would be huge. The odds of getting an NHLer are what 1 in 20 per pick?
Your giving up guys that won’t be here soon to acquire these picks. In some cases you’ll get multiple picks and even prospects a bit further along in their development.
That’s not a lottery dude. Especially when scouting is a Flames strength.
