To set the scene, the character is a now famous film director who grew up in a small Italian town and befriended the projectionist at the cinema. The local priest would preview films and note any scenes of kissing and force the projectionist to splice them out of the film so nobody would see it. After the projectionists death, the director returns to town and is gifted this reel left behind by the projectionist. Set to this music, along with the reaction from the actor, it makes me cry every...single...f'ing...time.
That's the power of a great piece of music in film.
