Looks like Mark Stone has been moved to their LTIR now too. He was just on IR a couple days ago (according to CapFriendly).

(So they got rid of Webber's 7.5M from their LTIR, and then replaced it with Stone's 9.5M - an increase of 2M.)

Going the other way to Arizona is a 2023 fifth-round pick, and the contract of Shea Weber who has been sitting on LTIR. This transaction gives the team some flexibility for the offseason, and makes it easier for the team to operate if they are thinking about acquiring players with multiple years left on their contract. Even though Weber is never going to play again, it would have been something the team would have had to balance during the summer when each team can exceed the salary cap by 10% before getting compliant by the start of the season.

As a result of this transactions, the team now sits with $8,754,166 in available space, which can be utilized for the remainder of the season. If they eat into this number by making some moves at the deadline, that would effectively mean Stone is going to miss the rest of the regular season.

This isn’t exactly anything new for Vegas, and the move of Stone to LTIR also gives the team a chance to add some reinforcements so they aren’t shorthanded in the event Stone is still unable to play once the playoffs start.

Many of the big pieces are already off the board, but now the team is in a position where they can do something if the opportunity arises. I don’t think we are going to see Timo Meier traded within the division, but with Stone now on LTIR, GM Kelly McCrimmon has options.
