I suppose if you clear your entire driveway onto the road, it might have an impact, but that seems terribly inefficient (vs to the sides of the driveway) and still doesn't seem like it should be an issue.

The sidewalk, probably not much of a difference. On an adjacent street, a bunch of people shovel everything onto the road, and it makes the street level about a foot higher than the sidewalk. Then it starts to melt and where cars drive, it melts faster than the curb lane and there's a huge embankment making it difficult to pass two cars with cars on the side. Then it melts even more and water flows to the lowest point which is their sidewalk and 5 feet up their driveways. Then it freezes and they throw way too much gravel down where it stays forever.
