I see the reasoning for why but there may be too much risk that it's just not worth it this season.
Get him ready for next season, make a few other major changes and at least we go into next season excited to watch again.

It opens his eyes to what areas of his game he needs to work on still to get there. He's 21, not 29 and on his last crack at a goaltending career
Holy smokes people, it's impossible to cradle a player gently into an nhl career the way some seem to be suggesting. Will never happen that way, especially for goalies. They can't be buried or sheltered like skaters. Once you're in, you're the guy. Just the nature of goaltending
At least he's regularly starting games and in mid-season form. This is precisely when it
is wise to give players a look
Can you possibly look more ready than wolf has? At least he's not rocking an .880, clearly not ready and people are suggesting it.
