Anything that needs a decision till then either can be handled without an agent or by the NHLPA. To me, firing him now would show that it was solely his agent's opinion and that he didn't support it. Would be less drama and clean up the mess that the "agent" created.

Because unlike what people around here seem to think, people don’t get instantly fired in this business. He has a contract with Walsh and who knows what is or is not within the agent’s discretion. It’s not that easy to terminate a contract.
