Darryl is the reigning coach of the year and didn’t forget how to coach. I think we need to accept the fact that the team just sucks. Probably wouldn’t matter who is behind the bench as I’m sure the results would be similar.
Now, if we are talking about the “negativity” he brings to the room then I guess that’s a fair argument, however, his tactics in the past have won championships. It’s not like Bruce had a ton of success in Vancouver to justify him as a replacement. Maybe the rink would be a happier place but would the points follow?
I’m willing to bet that the media Darryl and coach Darryl are not the same. Is he demanding? Yes. Can he be a dick? Yes. But if people think that a new coach is going to change this group I would strongly disagree. He’s one of the best for a reason and unfortunately the team gambled and lost with its off season adjustments. They overestimated the talent and it definitely isn’t there. The sample size is big enough.
Now if you’re talking full rebuild, then perhaps the conversation changes as to if Darryl is the kind of coach you want for youngsters and AHL graduates. That’s completely fair, but with this veteran team if they can’t handle a tough coach then you know there is significant problems regardless of what some loud mouth agent has to say.

I wasn’t saying the results will magically be there. I’m just sharing info from people that I know regarding the general vibe around the team. Players don’t want to play for him and have tuned him out at this point. They need a new voice
