How much was Gaudreau and Tkachuk responding positively to a Sutter coached team...vs how much was them wanting to get huge pay days as UFAs.
I'm not sure we can use the season Gaudreau and Tkachuk had as a positive indicator for Sutter as a coach...both guys got the hell out of dodge the first opportunity they got.
Tkachuk has actually thrown some shade Sutters way "Maurice is the best coach I've ever played for" before he even played a game for him.
Gaudreau hasn't really said a thing about Sutter.
I think we had two guys last year that went into business for themselves, and then got as far away from Sutter as they could.
And I've posted this before but outside of Gaudreau+Tkachuk+Lindholm this team wasn't very good last year under Sutter either.
5v5 With Gaudreau or Tkachuk on the ice: GF - 102, GA - 42, +60
5v5 Without Gaudreau or Tkachuk on the ice: GF - 94, GA-97, -3
If anything Gaudreau+Tkachuk are the ones that carried Sutter to the Jack Adams trophy last year...not the other way around. If anything this team this year looks a lot like this team did last year when those two aren't on the ice.
