Not saying other teams dont make lots of mistakes, but really hurts us due to lack of success, we could be talking about which cup was better vs a failed 04 run if we had Marty and Savard.

Had to bring up the past but it hurts when there has been no winning.
But this sort of revisionist history never makes sense. You can’t change one thing and expect that literally everything else would happen as it did except for the possibility of turning one game 7 loss into a game 7 win.

It’s just as likely we could’ve kept both and never traded for Kipper, never went on an 04 run, and the team was sold during the lockout.

Of course they learn, they know every player that they let go could do well somewhere else. It happens to every team almost every year. Bennett asked for a trade but if you remember he was already playing great by the time he was traded. Valimaki and Milano were just rotten, and it’s not like they intended to lose Valimaki either. Tons of guys who go on to be solid contributors hit waivers one or even multiple times before that, and the majority never get claimed. It’s a risk, but that’s hockey.
