I dont think it's rushing at all as long as you're not expecting him to come in and be the Bonifide starter. He should start getting a taste of the NHL so we can ease him into it. Jary, Hellebuyck, saros and oettinger all started getting put in around that age. Hart and knight were pretty much full time NHLers.
He's done all he can at the AHL level time to start giving him a taste.
