Even if you want to give him the benefit of the doubt on the 2nd and 3rd goal. At the end of the day, the Sens had 19 shots on goal when they scored the second goal and 25 after the game winning goal in OT. That is 3 goals in six shots, your 6-million-dollar goalie needs to stop at least 1 of those goals if not 2.
This game should have never even got to OT. It really is that simple, He loses his net consistently, his glove has been terrible, his rebound control has been nonexistent. Sure, he has made a few 10 bell second saves, but only because he has been way out of position, or given up a bad rebound etc. If he was playing calm and making himself look big, those 10 bell saves he would just be there and not having to be windmilling, scorpion or stacking. I can't think of a game this year that Markstrom has stolen a point for this team.
Either keep playing him and sell anyone of value to rebuild and hopefully get a top 10 pick. Or start playing the goalie who is giving the team a chance to win every night, as opposed to the one giving the team a chance to lose. With Markstrom in net its a 5-4 league and we don't have the finishing power to get to 5 on most nights.
