We are asking the defender to defend a rebound that shouldn't have been there and placing equal blame on the defender. Add to that this was a 6 on 5 situation with the skaters outnumbered and it was even more important for Markstrom to catch that puck.
His glove side has been especially terrible all year.

Meh, it was a difficult save to try with his glove - it was kind of cross body to catch. But rebounds always happen, especially with shots through traffic like that one. There were two players on his glove side and some on the other too. He could have not had a rebound, but you don't just stand there and assume it. The defenceman didn't even seem to realize what was happening, and Batherson did.
