Then I think over the next 12 months they try to recoup assets by moving some of the following players who have less than 2 years remaining on their deals after this season.

Mangiapane: 2 x $5.8M (27 years old)
Backlund: 1 x $5.35M (34 years old)
Lindholm: 1 x $4.85M (29 years old)
Toffoli: 1 x $4.25M (31 years old)
Dube: 1 x $2.3M (25 years old)
Hanifin: 1 x $4.95M (27 years old)
Tanev: 1x $4.5M (33 years old)
Zadorov: 1 x $3.75M (28 years old)
Kylington: 1 x $2.5M (26 years old)
Vladar: 2 x $2.2M (26 years old)
If you add Chychrun and then trade a guy like Hanifin in the off season. Can you recover almost all of the assets you traded in the Chychrun deal? I would say it would be close and Chychrun has an extra year left so it would be worth it even if you are down a bit on what you recover.

Meier is a little different, he will not be on as cap friendly of a deal. Still worth it if you can flip someone out in the off season and recover some of the assets you lost.

Flames have 10 games left until the deadline; they still need to show that this is the season where we go all in though. Still have yet to see a dominant stretch this year worth trading huge assets to go all in on this season. Doesn't mean it won't happen but IMO they are still not even a lock for the playoffs so I would persoanlly think they shouldn't go all in unless this team gets hot now. Time is running out though
